We took him in and named him Charlie…
And remember that Charlie was discovered to be slightly hearing impaired and later was having occasional seizures….possibly why he was “left behind”.
Charlie was moved from his foster in Gansbaai to a foster in the Helderberg , where he can be close to animals welfare colleagues who will help with his needs and close to Gordon’s Bay Animal Welfare vet, who is very dedicated to Charlie’s needs.
For a while Charlie was seizure free and his foster was adapting to his “cute quirks” and was ready for a forever home.
Then he suddenly has 3 in one day, went back to Gordons Bay vet, checks and meds adjusted.
All good for another 2 weeks then suddenly seizures again.
Back to Gordons Bay who sets an appointment with a private vet for tests.
The private vet (Cottage vet) was so amazing, she did various checks and balances, and body check. Including some basic neurological checks.

Charlie’s foster Mom here in Helderberg is awesome but there are no kids or other dogs and it seems he needs one or other or both, which
The vets feel will have a positive impact on him.
It was decided to place Charlie on a strict and higher dose of meds, and also supply his foster Mom with specific meds to administer for when he has seizures to “slow them down”
Then after 2 weeks we need to do a full blood count before and after meds to get a full body “reading”
Charlie is young and a really sweet and a socially great dog and we want to give him every chance.
He has been seizure free again the past 2 weeks, it therefore does seem to not be a regular occurrence.

We also urgently need either a long term foster or a permanent home with either other playful dogs and or children and that is willing to accept he is a special needs dog.
Not a lot of needs, just super sweet special.
